Rogue Round Flash Gels
What is a Lighting Filter or Gel?
What Is a Lighting Filter or 'Gel'?
Professional photographic lighting filters—commonly called "gels"—are thin, precision-tinted polyester films engineered to transmit specific colors and quantities of light.
Rogue Flash Gels use professional-grade material from LEE Filters UK, precision-cut and formatted specifically for portable flash systems. Whether you're creating dramatic color effects or correcting mixed lighting conditions, gels give you complete control over the color and quality of your flash output.
Common Uses of Lighting Filters or Gels:
Color Effects: Add warmth, cool tones, or creative color to your lighting.
Color Correction: Match flash to ambient light (LED, tungsten, fluorescent, daylight, shade, cloud).
How to Use Rogue Round Flash Gels
The magnetic modifier system makes using Rogue Flash Gels effortless. Simply capture your chosen gel between two magnetic modifiers, then place the modifier stack on your flash—the magnets hold everything securely in place.
Want to change colors? Remove the modifier stack, swap the gel, and snap it back onto your flash. The entire process takes seconds, keeping you focused on your subject instead of your equipment.
Printed Specifications for Instant Reference
Every Rogue Flash Gel features clearly printed specifications including the color name and f/stop loss value - giving you the information you need at a glance, right in your hand.
Understanding F/Stop Loss: All lighting filters absorb some light as they modify color. The f/stop loss value tells you exactly how much light each gel absorbs, allowing you to compensate your exposure accordingly.
Our printed f/stop values aren't estimates - they're measured in controlled tests using a professional light meter, comparing your bare flash output directly against the same flash with each Rogue Gel attached. This means you get accurate, real-world data for precise exposure control.
Round Flash Compatibility
Rogue Flash Gels are specifically designed to work seamlessly with round flash heads and Rogue's magnetic modifier system. The gels capture securely between any similarly sized stackable magnetic modifiers—no adhesive, no clips, no tape. Simply stack your magnetic modifiers with the gel sandwiched between them for instant color control. Change colors as quickly as you can swap a modifier, keeping you shooting instead of setting up.
Rogue Round Flash Gels have a maximum diameter of 71.5mm that work with multiple round flashes including Godox, Flashpoint, Geekoto, Neewer, and Westcott FJ80 (version 1 only).
Using Rogue Round Flash Gels with Profoto A series flashes (A1, A1x, A10, A2) also requires the Rogue PF Adapter and Rogue Gel Lens (sold separately).
